ON THE TRAILS is a new page and is in addition to the Trails Page.

ON THE TRAILS will be information on what's happening on the trails throughout the season. Trailmaster Angelo  will keep you up to date on trail conditions and he will also need your feedback with any suggestions.

The Trails Page is more of a permanent posting about our trail system, such as maps, safety and other important information people should know about our trails.

Hi Everyone
Happy New Year
The 1st Trail Report is not very good for snowmobiling, we have no snow.
Yesterday we had a dusting with rain & freezing rain. All the roads and ground were all ice today.
The weather for tonight is for some snow and rain after midnight. Colder weather has been predicted for the rest of the week, but no snow.
I will keep you informed of any changes if you like. It has been mentioned that not everyone want's emails and that we are the only club who sends out trail reports. You can let me know if you want to be taken off this email list.
THINK SNOW

Hi Everyone

Presently we have about 3 inches of snow on the ground. It is snowing lightly and the weather report predicts ice pellets tonight and tomorrow. Currently there is no  snowmobiling, I have been going out with an ATV or walking the trails.
I have been trying to get permission from the  AMC to cross their land so we could use the Long Pond Trail ( from the valley to ITS 110 ) no luck as yet. I will keep you informed on the progress.

We have re-routed some of the Elliottsville Trail ( trail to Monson ) it now eliminates the very steep areas.

IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT WE STAY ON THE MARKED TRAILS

Or we will loose the rights on the new section of the Elliottsville Trail and in the past the AMC was upset that people were going off the trail and going into other areas.

We also have a land owner who is willing to allow us to use his land for more trails.  Our club has a lot of support because of the good reputation we have.

I will keep everyone informed of any changes

Thanks

Hi Everyone

We had 5 inches of snow on the ground till today, we got 6 inches today. The 11 inches is dry and fluffy, nothing to pack down or groom.I am not going out snowmobiling till we have better conditions, I am sure some people will snowmobile.

Some good news after 2 weeks of phone calls, I did get verbal approval today to use the Long Pond Trail (Bodfish Valley to ITS 110).It is imperative to stay on the trail and not use the side roads or go around the camps, It will only take a few to cause us to loose this trail, enough said. With the late approval I wasn't able to ATV the trail to check the condition of it. Be careful if you use this trail.

I have put a lot of time in to trails the last few weeks and I don't have time this week. If anyone goes out to open trails or does any work on the trails let me know so we can get credit for the work. ( I should be contacted first )

Hi Everyone

It is Jan 24th and I haven't given a good conditions snowmobile report.  Well I hate to say it this one is not good either. It rained all night and some this morning, the temp. hit  40 degrees and we were lucky it wasn't sunny.
We have lost half of the snow we had and the rest is so wet that most of it turns to slush when you step on it. The lakes and ponds have plenty of slush on them, so you can't ride on them.
I don't see any change in the near future, I will let you know when it does.

Hi Everyone
Today it looks like winter in Elliottsville , a long time coming.
Yesterday we got about 6 inches of snow,  sleet and rain. The snow is now compressed to 4 inches and crusty. This will make a good base but we need more snow. The winds picked up just before day brake so I don't know if any limbs came down. I can't get out on the trails for the next few days so if anyone does please let me know the conditions.

Hi Everyone
WARNING
2 PLACES TO BE AWARE OF
1. Onawa Lake, at the head of the lake at Long Pond Stream, there is open water
2. Elliottsville Trail, coming from Monson,  there is open water at Bear Brook             We need a bridge and I am not sure when we can get it built.  ( you can cross just be careful )

The trails are mostly covered, we have some plowed trails. With so little snow some people have plowed the roads all the way to their camps.
We haven't done any grooming yet, we just opened the trails and widened them. We want to keep as much snow as we can on the trails.
A big help to me this year was Bruce Elliott and Ewen Farnham. Thanks guys.
We now have Kerne Roberts maintaining the trail openings at all roads and he has done a great job. Thanks Kerne.
There is no snow in the forecast. Today, it was sunny and the temp in the 40's.  Sun is predicted for tomorrow.  It is 8PM and the snow is still melting off my roof.
I hope to see you all on Saturday night at the Spaghetti Supper Fundraiser.

WE NEED NEW EQUIPMENT TO MAINTAIN OUR TRAILS
If you have any ideas on ways to raise money or want to help contact me or Mike.
Thanks

Hi Everyone

I was out all day today widening and grooming some of the trails. Weather permitting I will be out to finish them tomorrow.
The trails right now are flat and smooth no bare spots.  We will have some good snowmobiling if we don't loose what we have over the next few days.
The weather forecast for the next few days is 40's with snow showers, some rain and cold nights. No snowstorms in the forecast.
I feel that the shape we have them they can hold up, but we will need snow soon.

Reminder

You have to come to a complete stop before crossing the big culvert on the Ship Pond Stream Rd Trail. ( water flowing over the trail causing a drop off, because of the beavers blocking the culvert )

I groomed the bunny trail and took a lot of the dips out, we  need a lot of fill on this trail.
Monson Snowroller Day  this  weekend.
